OUR

TEAM!

Adventures with Amara began as a part of the Young Enterprise ( YE) Company Programme, when we were 16 and 17 years old. Since starting we have written and illustrated three books, sold over 500 copies, won a Global Youth Award for Educational Innovation and that's just the start! You can follow our journey on our social media platforms, where we will post updates of our progress.

We think that in today’s social and political climate, it can often be difficult to approach topics that children are exposed to but do not necessarily understand. Our books, written for young people by young people, provide a unique take on destigmatising taboo subjects within the younger generation and educating them on societal issues. They attempt to bridge this gap by encouraging curiosity and increasing conversation between parents and their children about complex topics. The modern and relevant moral influence and education that our books provide is an extension of the more traditional, basic morals taught in many existing children’s books.

It is hugely important to ensure that children understand, feel supported and informed. We believe that books are an invaluable method of sharing messages which help to shape core morals and inform everyday actions. Research studies have shown that, by being exposed to important topics from a young age, children become more open-minded and have a better understanding of issues that affect today’s society. Children as young as three or four years old have been shown to exhibit gender stereotypes and racial prejudice. Therefore by exposing children to a diverse range of issues, studies have shown that children become more open-minded and have a better understanding of issues that affect today’s society.

All our stories also have added digital elements to further enhance learning, including interactive games and audio books, as well as useful links to other websites about these issues to increase exposure to information about these topics.

We believe knowledge is the first step to enacting significant change and ‘Adventures with Amara’ is our attempt to contribute to that knowledge. This is something that we are all passionate about and we hope that our small input can help to create the building blocks for large scale change.
